The Tipo 26 was the first Maserati vehicle to feature the brand’s iconic trident logo. Designed by Mario Maserati, the trident logo was directly inspired by the statue of Neptune located in Bologna’s central square. The first Maserati vehicle built for daily driving rather than racing was the A6 1500, which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1947. Featuring a stylish exterior designed by the famous designer Battista Farina, the A6 1500 was received favourably by the automotive world. There were 61 Maserati A6 1500 models produced between 1947 and 1950.
The A6 1500 proved that Maserati could make cars for the road as well as the race track. The A6 1500 would be followed by the 3500 GT, a luxury sports car that pushed the limits of engine design. The 3500 GT enjoyed a larger production run than its predecessor, with over 2,000 models made between 1957 and 1964.
